thought provoking movie on southeast-asian indian history

Recently released Tamil movie Ayirathil Oruvan is a good effort, probably the first of its kind from the Tamil movie industry. Although it is a fictionalised version of the South Indian Chola dynasty who are responsible for Indianising Southeast-Asia, the movie and storyline are thought provoking especially for Indians living within the Southeast-Asian region. It is especially significant as not much is known about the Chola venture into Southeast-Asia and elsewhere mainly due to the non-interest  of the West-based/schooled academics of the modern world (and due to the simple disregard and systematic de-emphasation of anything beyond the limited power of reasoning and scope of Western intellectuals).

Although the movie suffers from amateurish turning of plot and the director’s folly in aping Hollywood models of medieval European lifestyle, its significance is undeniable.
