I saw this news item on http://www.IndianToday.net and felt this is a wonderful start to help the world understand Indian/Hindu culture accepted for its universal appeal and sustenability.
Oct 19 – While American President Barrack Obama had begun the tradition of celebrating Deepavali in White house, British Prime Minister Gordon Brown has also started the tradition of celebrationg Deepavali at his official residence, No: 10, Downing Street in London. The celebration was attended by many dignitaries including the Indian High Commissioner to Britain and famous artist from India F.M.Hussein.
Prime Minister Gordon Brown was garlanded and presented with special “prasatham” from the Swami Narayan Temple in London.
The Prime Minister’s house was decorated with lights for the Deepavali celebrations.
It is notable that US President Barrack Obama had also held a Deepavali celebration in the White House this year. I would like to think this is a sign that Hindus are finally making their mark in the world and bringing their culture to the forefront of the world arena.
